Hairstyles from the Oscars 2014
Hollywood A listers graced the red carpet for the 86th Annual Academy Awards Ceremony in California for a night of tears and triumphs.
Our favourite celebrities showed off their best Oscar-worthy looks including stunning vintage hairstyles, short crops and fabulous upstyles. Here at James Dun’s House hair salons in Glasgow and Aberdeen we’ve chosen the best hairstyles to hit the Oscars in 2014…
Vintage Wavy hair
Sexy wavy hair was the hairstyle of the Oscars this year with numerous stars wearing their hair in 1940s and ’50s inspired Hollywood waves. Oscar nominee Margot Robbie brought her vintage wavy hairstyle up to date with a gorgeous raven hair colour and ever-stylish Cate Blanchett oozed sex appeal with her tumbling curls worn to the side and tucked behind an ear . In our opinion the celebrity who wore this style the best was Sandra Bullock. Her low side parting was bang on trend and her mermaid curls looked shiny and immaculate worn to one side. We also loved the flash of colour in her brunette locks.
Short chic hair at the Oscars
Actress Charlize Theron oozed glamour with her short slicked back hairstyle and black Dior Haute Couture figure-hugging dress, while Anne Hathaway looked cute as a button with added volume to her short crop. Top marks to Evan Rachel Wood for her short hairstyle with gentle waves.
Long hair was worn in an updo by many of the celebrities including Penelope Cruz who looked fabulous with her brunette waves piled up high in a bun, and Lady Gaga with a structured low-loop bun. Our favourite though was the effortlessly chic and messy up-do worn by Olivia Wilde and Julia Roberts.
Jared Leto and Matthew Mcconaughey both wore fabulous white tuxedos but we think Jared had the edge with his long ombre hair flowing down over his shoulders. Bradley Cooper looked great with short messy hair and a beard, and Benedict Cumberbatch was as effortlessly stylish as always with his slicked back hair.
