ABERDEEN BARBERSHOP LAUNCHES NEW TRAINING ACADEMY & OFFERS FORMER OIL & GAS WORKERS NEW CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Applications are now open for the barber training places, with courses starting in April. The barber academy has 8 places available in total – 4 of which are for oil & gas workers made redundant and looking to change career . The scheme is being supported by Skills Development Scotland & the Transition Training Fund – which will help fund the training for the oil workers. The other 4 self-funded places are available to anyone who fancies a new career in barbering.
The new barber academy will offer structured training to new students & current hair stylists looking to develop their barber skills. Co-owner Dean Walker said “ This is a great opportunity for anyone who has been affected by the recent changes in the oil & gas industry, to retrain & develop the skills needed for a new career in barbering. We also have up to 4 self funded places available too, so maybe a hairdresser wants to develop their skills as a barber or a complete beginner wishing to become a ‘shop-ready’ barber.
Students will master the art of men’s barbering as well as gaining real barbershop experience – all within a 24 week time frame. The part time course will give applicants the chance to develop new skills which will allow them to develop a new career and new future.
The Belmont Street barber currently employs 5 barbers & 1 trainee barber, the addition of the academy will mean that successful applicants who complete the training program will have the opportunity of employment at Mr Dun.
If you are looking for the best possible start to your new barber career, look no further.
Whether you’re a barber with many years experience, a hairdresser looking for a career change or you’re wanting to train to be a barber – we want to hear from you.
